I want to backup my season 2 of the A team but I only want certain episodes.

I want to add my favorite episodes later onto as few DVD's as possible.

Whats the best way to go about this?

The box set spans across 6 Dual Layer DVD's with 4 episodes on each one.

Can I extract the VOB files for each episode and then add them later to a comilation Will the VOB files need to be renamed as there are multiple discs?

    EDIT:
I extracted an episode from vobblanker and it plays in windoes media player but when I try to open it in dvd Shrink it asks for IFO file?
I then created an IFO usin IFOEdit but when I try to select it as the source in CloneDVD2 it says thet its not properly mastered.
How do I properly master a VOB file so that it can be burned to a disc?

    EDIT:
I was thinking that I could extract all the episodes I want using vobblanker ( Blanking all unessesary files and processing to the desired folder)

Then later open the first disc file (extracted from the DVD) in vobblanker and using the replace button adding the IFO's of the episodes i want to the existing episode that I don't want from the first DVD (blanking the chapter index). Would this be the right approach, would this keep the proper structure in tact?

    There's a couple of ways to go about this;

One would be to use DVDShrink in reauthor mode, and drag the episodes you wish to keep over to the left hand side. Set compression to No Compression, and then output to "Folders on your hard drive", so a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder are created. This will recreate the IFOs properly such that you would have a fully playable DVD structure on your hard drive, which would just default to playing one title (episode) after the other. Later on, you could use something like TMPGEnc DVD Author and just import each title in turn.

Another way I can think of would be to use ripping software such as DVDDecrypter (or even smartripper can do the job) in File or possibly IFO Mode (depending on how the originals are authored) and set it such that it splits by title - I think for most episode discs if you set File-Splitting to "By VOB ID" this should do the job. Certainly IFOEdit can tell you the Cell and VOB ID(s) and you can work out the best way to go about this. The other alternative is that if each episode is it's own title (and has it's own PGC), then you can use IFO mode to isolate each chapter. You could then recreate the IFOs for each episode using IFOEdit and this guide, such that each episode is a fully playable DVD structure in its own right. Then use your authoring software (or DVDShrink) to import each episode.
    If in doubt, Google it.

IFO rip the episodes in DVD Decrypter.
Re-author in something like TDA or DVDWS.

    Easy.

For those having problems with such dvd titles .

I use dvdxcopy to copy dvd to hard drive .
Then dvdshrink to reauthor , and shrink .

This is how I deal with the stargate dvds .

The problem with these dvds is there is not 4 titles , but 8 on the dvd .

I simply confirm which 4 match each other .

In the first case with my first stargate dvd , titles 1,2,5, and 7 matched .

A simple menu is constructed using gimp and dvdauthorgui , and titles imported using pgcedit , then connected , burnt using imagetools .

Editing the original menu from the dvd to reflect title name changes takes a lot more work ...
