  1. It's been a while since I did any of this video stuff and a lot has changed so I need some advice on what software to use for my little video project ^^. I don't really have the time to research what's good and what works now because I need this video done in just a few days.

I have an hour worth of video capured by a DV camcorder and a ton of pictures aswell of a special event and I would like to edit it, dump it on a DVD and distribute it among the participents of this event. I have already dumped the DV video onto a DVD via a Panasonic home DVD recorder so the video is already DVD mpeg2 compliant. Now all I need to do is strip it out onto my computer, add titles and some effects using Adobe Premier, and use some kind of DVD authoring software to make menus and stick in all the video clips, photos. I'm trying to make this look good in the time I have. Last time I tried DVD authoring software they blew but I hope things changed since then ^^.

So any recommendations on what software to use to strip the video of the initial DVD and what authoring sotware to use to make nice menus which would not only allow playing the video but have some kind of photo viewer so it would work well on a dvd player.

A lot of things to do in a very short amount of time, I hope you guys can give me some good advice so I can get this done with the least amount of problems. Thanks.

Why don't you transfer the original DV tape into Premiere if you have that and are familiar with Premiere.

DVD MPeg will be lower in quality and you have to learn new tools that way.

If you need to buy something new, Premiere Elements is all you need so long as you cap DV. Elements includes titling encoding and limited authoring.
