Hello Everyone, I am new here and I have been reading most of this forum and I know that there are some clever computer people on here so I really need help with something.
I have this program NeoDVD and I use it to burn some stuff I have on the computer but lately after everything encodes and what not, I get this error message that reads "NeoDVD has failed to write to disc" or something like that and I dont know whats wrong. I am a newbie at computers so these forums are all I have and I really want to fix this problem.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Could be any number of things, NeoDVD could be corrupt, you could have bad media, you could have the wrong media, your drive could be bad, or any number of other things.
Can the drive read DVD discs? Do you have another burning program such as Nero installed that you can use to test? Can you burn data onto DVD (not using NeoDVD to encode and burn video)?
Assuming this has worked in the past, my first guess would be that NeoDVD is having video encoding issues or the resulting image is too large for your media. But since I've never heard of nor used NeoDVD, I'm only guessing.Google is your Friend -
Ok...Umm....I have Nero as well...I recently got it and it keeps saying "Failed to Write at 4x" or something but just a few days ago Neo was working so I dont know whats wrong....

Ok Hi again...it doesnt seem like anyone wants to help me and I dont know why....I deleted Nero and all my other burning software and all I have on my computer is NeoDVD....I made sure DMA was on as someone suggested and it still will not burn, does anybody know why? ... and what do you guys mean by different media?

You just haven't given enough information for anyone to make much of an informed guess. You said about NeoDVD "I use it to burn some stuff I have on the computer....". What 'stuff'?
Krispy Kritter asked "Can the drive read DVD discs? Do you have another burning program such as Nero installed that you can use to test? Can you burn data onto DVD (not using NeoDVD to encode and burn video)? "
You said "Failed to Write at 4x" or something..." about Nero. That's pretty vague.
NeoDVD is not that popular of a program, that's probably the main reason you didn't get many replies. You should go to their website, and maybe their forum if they have one and pose your questions there.
The problem may be in the original file, whatever that is, in the program you used to encode, the program you used to author, the program you used to burn, your burner or your media. The media is the brand and type of DVD blanks you are using.
Many burning problems are because of the media and not the software. That's the first thing to change if you are having problems. Media quality changes, sometimes from one box to another.
First thing: What are you burning and what is the source? If it's a DVD, does the file play before you burn it? Several programs will play VOB files. VLC is one. If the DVD file is OK just before you burn it, then the burning software is suspect. Detail your steps.
Sorry to go on for so long, but it's difficult to answer questions without all the information available. -
Ok sorry for being rude guys, I guess I was just upset about my situation. My drive can read DVD's and my nero wasnt working so I deleted it and now all I have is NeoDVD and I just want to know how to fix that. I used to be able to burn things perfectly on NeoDVD but for some reason I cannot anymore. I use NeoDVD to encode and burn and I have no idea what you guys mean by "what media are you using?"
What I am trying to burn is some movie files with the .avi extension but I have converted them to VOB and whatnot so it could be a problem with NeoDVD and I want to uninstall it and reinstall it but the program came with the computer and I dont know if I got a serial number with it....So if I did unistall it how would I download another one? ... I am not even sure uninstalling it would make a difference, so would anything else be wrong....I think I have answered all of the questions so thanks for helping in advance.

Media=What brand and type of DVD blank? And are you able to play the NeoDVD VOB files before you burn them?
If you don't have the serial number, I wouldn't unistall it.
I use TMPGEnc to encode AVI and TMPGEnc DVD author for authoring. Then I use TDA or Nero to burn. If NeoDVD is working properly, the AVI files themselves may be messed up. Try running a AVI through that worked before. That may tell you the problem is with Neo, especially if the Neo VOBS won't play properly before burning. -
Ok thanks for clearing that up, I beleieve the only types of media I have are SONY and something called "Alkaline" or something that I got from futureshop. The VOB files from NeoDVD play perfectly but they still will not burn, after they encode I get a message that says "NeoDVD has failed to write to the disc" ... Im so lost as to why it isnt working.

I hate those cryptic error messages.
Have you tried this using Nero; Click on 'DVD video', then take everything in your VIDEO_TS folder that NeoDVD created and put those into the Nero VIDEO_TS folder. Then burn. At least Nero should give you a log file if it fails to burn.
I suspect your media. I would try a different brand. If you look to the left <<< under DVD Writers, you should be able to find recommendations for compatible DVD media for your burner. -
http://members.dodo.net.au/~NeroExpress.htm might assist with burning with Nero.
If in doubt, Google it. -
Contact Mediostream by email. I had some issues with my bt878 capture card and they answered promptly and with a lots of good suggestions. Turns out for me that my card drivers were not working with their software (Neotv trial) in winxp but it worked in win98se for some reason. Unfortunately I couldn't find better drivers so I just switched to my old Avermedia TV98 card I had in my spare parts box and it worked fine.

Ok, I tried Nero and it failed and here is the error message I got....does anybody know why none of my DVD's are burning?

Yes I am very lost as to why it isnt working.....anyone have any suggestions. I have been using Sony brand dvd discs and Memorex dvd disc and Pine dvd discs....sorry about when I said "alkaline" I must have dozed off...LOL...I dont know what I was thinking. ... anway I have used Sony DVD + R brand and Memorex DVD - R and Pine DVD + R before and they used to work fine but all of a sudden nothing works :(
-
hhhuuuuuuhhh there is no such option....? ... maybe my dvd drive needs a clean?
-
The log shows that you are using -R media and that the drive had a media sense error. This error is generally because of bad media or the drive is dying/dead.
It could also be that your burner doesn't like that brand/type...as stated before...try a different brand/type. Also, keep in mind that just because you have used , for example, Sony DVD-R 2x discs in the past, doesn't mean that Sony DVD-R 4x discs will also work.Google is your Friend
