I am approaching a deadline and am in a serious bind. I captured at "preview quality" some video footage with Pinnacle 8. After getting everything ready to burn and insert the master tape to recapture at full quality, I realized that I had taped over the footage.

Is there any way to erase the "tape over" stuff to get to the original, or perhaps a way I can finalize a DVD or VCD by rendering "preview" quality footage?

    No. Tape is gone.

Better hang onto the preview thing. It's all you have now.

Would I be able to put the "preview" quality video onto DVD or VCD? Or is it just permanently stuck on the computer?

Yes. It won't look as good of course. It's been a very long time since I used Studio, you might have to dig around to find the preview file and create a new project for it.
