  3. Grab the edges of the CD and pull really hard so it stretches out. Then you can fit more on the CD.

Or, maybe try recompressing the file.

  5. You can recompress using TMPEGEnc. Recompress at lower bitrates, resolutions, etc. By recompressing it, you are going to lose some quality. I suggest splitting the file using TMPEGEnc and then burning 2 VCD's to keep good quality.

  6. what i'm basically doing is trying to make a vcd out of the mpg file using Nero5.5 and the mpg file is more than 1gig. I didn't see an option in Nero (either that or i was overlooking it). when i click burn my burner(plextor) tray ejects my cd giving me an over capacity error message. is there a way to split up the mpg file and burn it on 2 cd. i know there is, but don't know how.

  7. nvost361- thanks for the info.. actually i used the TMPEGEnc to convert the avi file into mpg file (which took forever). so now i have to use TMPEGEnc again to split up the file?

  8. You are doing the right thing in nero, but nero knows that your file is too big that is all. Use TMPEGEnc to split the MPEG into two parts (There is a how to on the left). Then burn it on two cd's. Else, if you are willing to sacrifice quality, reencode it at lower bit rate. Either way, you will need to use TMPEGEnc.

but the mpeg files that it produces are not vcd compliant, so you would need to run them through something like Hauppage's tool to make them compliant before burning

  11. in TMPEGEnc to split the MPEG into two parts, how
do you do this? what are the menu/commands?

  12. I personally like MpegTool for splitting into parts, it is fast and very easy.

While TMPGenc is a great program I have had an audio sync problems everytime I used it to split MPG's in two.

For encoding I would use TMPGenc or BBM, but for splitting MPEGtool for sure !!
