  1. ok this is the score, l,m new to all this movie making but have read abit of info on this site, asked questions and now had a go at movie making but something is still not right.l have a multi-drive laptop and have downloaded a holiday tapefrom my dv camcorder onto the computer, this parts fine.Next l have imported the files to roxio easy cd&dvd creator 6, at this stage l have a option of dvd, svcd,or vcd,l was using a cd-r and it had to much to burn on svcd so did it on vcd, then l encoded it which took over, still ok.Next l burned onto disc and it said after disc burned successfully.Ok, try it into my dvd player, it has burned onto disc and does play, but it,s all in broken down blocks and same with the voice. l tried it on a other dvd player and that says wrong or bad disc. Please help me, where am l going wrong, and what can l do to get this right, many thanks in advance

Point 1: To be honest, I wouldn't trust Roxio products as far as I could kick them. For anything. period.

Point 2: I wouldn't trust most all-in-one one-click-wonder softwares as they make the decisions for you automatically based on a formula, giving no consideration whatsoever to anything that could be "different" about your file, and generally giving you little to no control to be able to do anything about it, should this be the case. If you want to make a SVCD with your file, you should be able to. Yes, it may look ordinary given the low bitrates it would need to use, but that is a decision you should be able to make, and not have a program make it for you.

Point 3: I'm assuming your source is DV (statement of the obvious). What running time does it have ? Would you prefer to fit it on one disc and accept a reduction in quality, or would you prefer to use as many discs as it takes to provide you with optimum quality ? Can your standalone player play SVCD ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
