is there anyway to cut a stereo sound file into two sound files so like 1 file would be the left audio channel only and the other file would be the right audio channel only?

pretty much any audio editor can do this. Load up your stereo file and highlight just one channel. Copy this and create a new mono file. Paste your channel into this new file. Save and you have a mono audio file containing just one channel. repeat for the other channel.
