I want to use ffdshow or a codec pack like ffdshow. I was useing ffdshow but because it runs software every time you open a video file it was slowing my computer down. And I'm the kind of guy that likes to run my computer as clean as possable. Is there any programs like ffdshow that can play divx files with out running software every time I open a divx file? That's all I really want to do, I want to run divx files with out useing the divx software from divx.com and I would to not have software running every time I open my divx files.
Thanks guys.

You can use the XviD Codec to decode Divx. Koepi's build seems to work OK.
If you like to run your computer as clean as possible, stay away ... STAY FAR AWAY ... from Codec packsIf in doubt, Google it. -
What exactly do you mean by "it runs software every time you open a video file"? All the filters, etc.? No reason why you have to activate any of them.
