People kept saying I need bit setting if I buy a new burner, so when I bought a new LG GSA-4163B, I made sure it could do bit setting on +R and +R dual layer discs. Well, I ripped an old disc of mine as a test and changed the bit setting to DVD-ROM in DVD Decryptor and burned the disc. I verified that the finished product was indeed DVD-ROM but when attepting to play this back in a drive that would not accept +R discs, the drive still won't accept this burned as DVD-ROM disc either. So, what have I gained? I have no other players that won't play +R discs so I can't test further. I'm a bit bewildered then about all this fuss with bit setting...

Sucess! What I found out is that my old player will not accept PAL discs whether they are +R or -R. It will also not accept +R discs unless they are bitset to DVD-ROM. Now I know I didn't waste any money. Burning at 12X on TY 8X branded discs is also a plus...
