Ok i have alot of japanamation and i want t put it on dvd to watch on my regular dvd player. only problem is the subtitles always get cut in 1/2 at the bottom. Ive read how to fix this if the subtite file is seperate from the video file, but what to do if its part of the video file? ive read about doing all kinds of crazy stuff with quicktime, but i dont like quicktime i would much rather fix it with ffmpegx if i can. my next question is about .mkv files they have different languages and subtitles in them but when i convert them to dvd or try to, there not there anymore. i hate .mkv files but i cant find the anime in anyother form, ive tried to convert them to .avis but doesnt work is there a program that will extract subtitiles? thanks for any help anyone has.

If you follow the instructions on this site using mkvinfo, you can find the subtitle streams and download them accordingly. It's command line but really not very hard.
