I know that lordsmurf and others have added a heatsink (as well as a cooling fan because the machine didn't include on at the time) to the LSI chip with the earlier Liteon 5001s. Is the exisiting fan enough. Would it be overkill to add extra cooling to the machine?

I've never heard of there being "too much" cooling on a computer (which is all a DVD recorder is).

LiteOn does get hot. But I'd not mess with it unless you have a problem with it.

I have placed small feet on the bottom of my new ilo DVDR05, to raise it a few inches. Hopefully more air will flow around the unit and keep it cool. If this doesn't work I will add a small fan to the cabinet it is installed in.
