I've recently purchased a DVD player "Marquant 559A". Self made DVD's are not recognized as a DVD but determined (after al long loading time) as an MP3. This counts for DVD's made by Nero as well as DVD creator on various DVD brands (Traxdata/Memorex/Commondore).
These DVD's are recognised and played without any problems on my PC ( Power DVD) or on other brand DVD players.
How does a DVD player recognizes a DVD? Are there special (hidden) files needed?. What is the difference between a Buy-DVD and selfmade one?
Thanks very much for any help or suggestions
Kind regards
Brigant

this could be due to nero, there have been problems with it burning dvd's in the past..
try imgtool classic & dvd decrypter..
use imgtool classic, point it to the folder containing your AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders & output it to an iso file.. then use dvd decrypter in iso/write mode to burn the dvd.. should produce (considering the ifo/bup/vob files are valid) a 100% compatible dvd..
if that doesnt do it, it could be that your dvd player just wont play burned dvd's.. have you tried both dvd+r & dvd-r? -
What little information that I can find on this player seems to indicate that it is compatible with dvd+r/rw discs but NOT dvd-r/rw discs. Keep in mind that some players are also finicky about which brands of media they will read.
