    Hello;

    In reference to the Magnavox DVD recorders model numbers;
    H2160MW9
    H2080MW8

    For anyone with first hand ownership knowledge of either or both of the DVD recorders, have you experienced any mechanical or electrical problems with the recorder ?

    Is the recorder picky about the blank DVD media to be used ?

    How is the picture quality via signal throughput as well as recorded discs ?

    I am interested in buying one of these and am not concerned about inclusion or lack of a digital tuner as I receive TV programming via DirecTV. What I am interested in is a useful and dependable recorder to replace my now defunct Panasonic DMR-E80H.

    Many thanks in advance for any information/advice.

    Thanks for the link handyguy. I will try to get my questions answered there.

    Regarding your comment "Sure wish I had another Panasonic"

    I've thought that too at times, but my experience with their burners has been terrible. Through the research I've done to this point, burner failure in DVD recorders seems to be pretty much universal but I really need a replacement so I'm hoping to get user input about the Magnavox units' real-world reliability from real-world users.
    In the end, I suspect that that if I buy one, it will prove to be as problematical as the Panny.

    Or LiquidTV, which is new, but you have to pay.

    I have no personal experience, but people definitely love the Philips model that the Magnavox is based on.
