I've made quite a few rips with the newest Gordian Knot and they've been spectacular. I would buy this program if it were on the shelves! Anyway, I just encountered a pretty large movie called "Strange Days" 145minutes! I can't seem to get the aspect ratio to be 640x288 like Rush Hour 2, Swordfish, or Scary Movie 2... all look almost exactly like the DVD to me unless I really make a point to look for artifacts... each time I try and play with the bitrate and other options on GK I can't get closer than 704x240 (I'd like to stay with 640xXXX).. I'm using Divx4.11 and 2pass. I tried the whole process twice (a long time on my athlon800) and the aspect ratio is always 640x208 or 640x224. Is there something different with this movie besides size that's preventing me from getting the 640x288 aspect ratio? I don't really want to go higher than 640. If any other info is needed just ask. I'm thinking it has something to do with cropping although I get it close as possible then use "Smart Crop All" just like the doom9 guide says. Thanks in advance.
