I need some help. I'm a newbie to this. I have an avi xvid movie file that is 698MB. I'm trying to convert it to DVD. I'm using Mainconcept MPEG Encoder to convert. The estimated file size is 6153MB. I want to fit this movie file on a 4.7GB DVD. I don't know if I'm using the right program to convert. If someone could help me I would appreciate it. I need a step by step process.

    Thanks

Well the first thing to realize it's about running time, not the size of your source. You have to change the video bitrate under Details-> Advanced, to a lower number till it fits.

Plunk your running time into this for the bitrate to use.

That's still too big. I'd knock that down a notch more as the final size is an estimate and very often MC goes a tad over. I'd shoot for 4300 to be on the safe side.

Sorry I should have mentioned this before.
