  1. i am a newbie, please help me...I have a movie in 2 parts (mpeg format) ,each is about 900 mb, which I cannot write to a normal disc since most of them have 700mb capacity..I need to know of any utilities that will compress them to a manageable size to write on a disc or be able to convert them to a DVD format, where I can add more movies on a single disc and view them on a DVD player..please if any one provides pointers to such a tutorial that will be great..

    Thanks

First thing to do is DL AVIcodec or Gspot or similar. They will give you needed information on the videos. You need to know their size, framerate, framesize, type of MPEG (1 or 2), audio type, duration.

Then for DVD, look at 'What is DVD' to the left. <<<

If they are DVD compliant, then you just need to author and burn them and you're done. TMPGEnc DVD Author is popular for that.

If they are not, then you may need to re-encode them to be compliant, then author. Study the 'Guides' in 'Convert' and 'Author'. <<<

Sometimes it's simple, sometimes not. That's why you first need to know what you are working with.
