hey all,
Have a question for y'all. I have a tv tuner/capture card installed, that is also my graphics card. It can capture mpeg1 and 2 but I don't think avi.
Is there anyway to use a program like virtualdub to capture vhs and encode the vhs to avi by using a mpeg1/2 capture card?
thanks,

Hi,
What is the name of your capture card? If its a hardware mpeg encoder card like haupauge wintv pvr250 than you can ONLY capture in mpeg.
If it is mpeg only you can capture in mpeg than use virtualdubmpeg2 to convert it to any avi codec you wish.

the capture card is nvidia personal cinema 5700 fx. it's a 128mb graphics card with built in mpeg encoder and tv tuner card.

also basic question with my vhs player that I plan to hook up to the computer, it has a coax cable that used to run into the cable outlet do I need to screw that into the wall before attaching the video and audio cables that connect to the back of the vhs player and the back of my card?
