  1. When I convert divx to DVD using TMPGenc and TMPGenc Authur the video is slightly jittery. It happens worse when there are fast moving scenes. There is a slight robotic flow to the video rather than a smooth dvd quality movement.
I have 512 mb ram and was wondering if this could be the problem.
    Thank you in advance.

    More information required

is the source ntsc or pal framerate (23.976 fps, 25 fps or 29.976 fps) ?

Do you change the framerate when you encode (format conversion or 23.976 to 29.976) ?

Is the source progressive or interlaced ?

  3. It does it with both NTSC or PAL. It will also do it with any frame rate.I have used about 20 different sources and it does it with all. It is a very slight thing. There is just a bit of unnatural motion to the video. Maybe all conversions do this or it's something that I'm doing wrong.

What are using to decode the divx files (and is it divx? if so which one...and how do you know? is it xvid?..does the file just say .avi?)...maybe your using FFDSHOW...is it an old version?

Do the files play 'jittery' on your pc..and do they play jittery if you use VLC (videolan) as your media player? Are they jittery if you play on the pc through the created DVD file (from TMPEG and/or TDA) as opposed to the actual DVD?

Do the DVD's you have made play OK on your pc..or is it just your standalone DVD player? What ave/max settings do you encode at...and on what DVDr media.

    More info please.

  5. Sorry guys. Relatively new at this as you can tell. They are .avi files. I use 2 bass VBR setting in TMPGenc. The ave setting is taken from bitrate calculator. Example: 6200 ave I would set max 9000 min 1000.

They play fine on my PC usin Power DVD. The video ts and the disks. It is just the standalone I have problems with. I have tried several types of media and it does it on every one.

Try dropping the ave to say somewhere between 3500 to 5500 and the max to say 7500 and then try the DVDr (then work from there..until you detremine a good ave and max) .....some standalones just simply do not like too high a bitrate on some media ..or.. try another brand of media..the choice is yours...(only one real choice if you have loads of media to use before your next purchase........)
