    i just a bought a new cd and i want it on my mp3 player and 1st i ripped it with nero mp3pro 320/44khz but as i compared with other mp3 files that are 192... the 320' one sounded like crap.. what program(free or pay2use doesnt matter) is a good ripping tool? or what other format should i try? not wave format...plz lol...

    I like CD-DA X-tractor. It's easy to use, and easy to configure. I think it uses the lame encoder when converting to mp3. You can choose whatever bitrate you want from 160-320.

    I always use EAC with cli lame. Best bet is to encode VBR.

    Actually these days I encode to either ogg vorbis (iAudio) or aac (iPod).

  5. these days, my tool of choice is dbpoweramp...its quite literally a swiss army knife when it comes to audio....you can (with the right codecs) convert literally just about any audio format to any other format...it has an audio cd converter with it too....and its supposedly the fastest cd ripper in existance...i use it to back up my cd's to lossless (and more recently, for my car's audio system wma 9.1)

    Audiograbber with LAME codec. Never fails to impress in speed and quality. Usaully do a full CD to 192k on the fly in about 4-5mins
