    Hi guys,

I'm trying out using DVDFab Decrypter/DVDRebuilder/CCE/Nero combination, but having setup DVD-RB to be as automated as possible (i.e. click mode) i can't just walk away and leave the bugger because when it gets to the encoding stage instead of just getting on with the job it pops up a windows for CCE with the option to abort or encode. How can i make this automated so it just encodes the damn thing without me having to sit there for an hour clicking the damn encode button

Help on this (minor) issue is (greatly) appreciated.

Use a compatible version of CCE. At some point a few point releases ago, the dialogues changed in CCE SP, meaning the ECLCCE would not work with these versions. I don't know if ECLCCE has been updated, so you may have to revert a couple of versions in CCE. 3.67 works well.

Ah okay, i see the problem now but i can't fix it
No where seems to have version 2.67 avaliable to download, so unless someone knows how to rewrite EclCCE then it looks like i won't get CCE to use. Any idea where i could get an old version (2.67) from?

    Cheers

Make sure you use the rockas installer, it sets a few very important things up, like settingup DVD-RB to use the correct version of CCE, with or without ECLCCE

Also, ensure you have the encoder minized setting turned on, this is very important as far as CCE is concerned

I personally use CCE 2.70 and have used CCE 2.67 and also CCE 2.50 with no problems at all, neither use ECLCCE and it works fine

The important part is running the config that tells DVD-RB what version of CCE you are using, this is installed with the rockas installer, and also ensures everything is in the correct place

Can't remember if things are slightly different with DVD-RB free as I'm now using the pro version with extra preferences, more options and a lot better, all for a measly donation. Well worth it

Okay, having the 'run encoder minimized' option ticked seems to have solved the automation problem, thanks for the help on that.

Since it seemed to be working i ripped Collateral and processed it all with DVDRebuilder which all seemed to work fine. However once it was finished it produced a very small movie (1.8GB), which when played has an error message on the screen that reads:

'MPEG2Source: Couldn't open source file, or obsolete DV2 file.'
    '(D:\Working\D2VAVS\V02000200001003.avs, line 6'

    What does that mean?
(It might have been caused by the fact that i removed Mpeg2Dec3DG from Avisynth plugins folder, I was under the impression that DGDecode.dll replaced it, but prehaps not...)

Anyway this results in no picture but the audio is fine (although menus and intros/warnings are all fine - that figures ).

Also, i ripped the movie using DVDFab Decrypter, however i can't just skip the intro and warnings by pressing the menu button like i could when ripped with DVDDecrypter, did i miss an option or is this just not possible with DVDFab Decrypter?

    Cheers

Make sure you set DVD Fab Decrypter to remove POUs by using the option screen (accessed by the little icon in the top right corner)

I'd put mpeg2decDG back and run it again, just to see if it's the cause of your problem.

okay set the option in the decrypter, i hadn't noticed that, cheers.
I put back the file and ran it again but with the same result, the movie file is 1.8GB on disk and size 1.92GB...
I must have an option somewhere set wrong, but what would it be?

I tried with this with the Mpeg2Source option in AVS Advanced settings disabled (since it's the only thing i can find related to Mpeg2Source) but that wasn't it. Any ideas, please this is really getting annoying.

The first thing that stands out is the small target size and large reduction required. Without knowing the movie, it's hard to know if the reduction % is correct, but the target size is way too small (space for video).

OK, at a guess, based only on your log, I would say that your main movie is in VTS2, but DVD-RB is seeing this as an extra. As you have steal space from extras turned on, it is applying an extra heavy compression to it, possibly even reducing the resi\olution to half-D1 on the way. Try turning steal space mode off and see what happens.

Okay, the movie is 'Collateral.' it's a 7.5GB movie when ripped with DVDFab so the compression is far more than even 50% at the moment. Whats more is it's not just compressed, it's not there. everything bar the movie video itself is there, but no movie
What options do i need set for using DVD-RB with CCE SP Trial?

I don't believe it is the trial that is the problem.

Try this. Load the dvd into DVD Shrink (just the ripped version, don't rip again) and reauthor for just the movie. Set the compression level to No Compression. You will get a warning that the results willbe too big to burn, just click OK. Backup the results to a folder on your hdd. Now use DVD RB on the reauthored version.

I on the other hand totally believe that your encoder being the trial version has everything to do with it. Buy CCE-Basic - Version 2.70.01.04 for only $49. Then use Rockas installer to configure and install DVD Rebuilder v1.00 RC2

    EDIT - DVD-RB is now up to v1.00 RC3

To add to HatchetMan's recommendation ... pony up a donation for DVD Rebuilder Pro ... you won't be sorry! (I'm assuming you're using the freeware version)

DVD Rebuilder Pro & CCE together really whips the llama's ... well, you know ...

Okay guys, i think i found the source of my woes.

    This error:
'MPEG2Source: Couldn't open source file, or obsolete DV2 file.'

Is related to AviSynth I have discovered. As is detailed in this thread:
    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96054&highlight=Mpeg2Source

Unfortunately i don't quite understand what neuron2 is talking about in his response. I'm not sure how to make it so that the file is 'made' with a matching version of DGIndex by DVD-RB or AVISynth. I have both the files DGDecode and DGIndex avaliable, but i'm not sure how to make DVD-RB use the right file (i.e. the matching DGIndex) in the preperation stage so that AviSynth can open the files produced after the preperation stage.

Can someone help, so close to solving this, yet so far

Can someone tell me how soon after you donate should you receive the link for the download? Thanks

  17. Hi-

Unfortunately i don't quite understand what neuron2 is talking about in his response.

The version of DGDecode.dll used must match the version of DGIndex used. You can't just blithely go around changing the DGDecode.dll whenever you like. In addition, you can't use just any version of the DGDecode.dll/DGIndex, as (I think), DVD-RB doesn't support the newest ones. So, if you got the Rockas installer, make sure you're pointing to the proper version of DGDecode.dll in the Options->Setup of DVD-RB, or that you have the proper one in the AviSynth Plugins directory.

Don't know about how quickly you'll get the download link. Sorry. You might wait a couple of days, and then ask jdobbs in the DVD-RB Forum at Doom9. Or maybe search over there, as I believe that question has been asked before.

Hmmm, so you can't update the DGIndex file and point DVD-RB in the direction of that. That explains it all since i had updated the DGDecode.dll file.
If i get the pro version can i use updated ones?

    Cheers

  19. Hi-

I don't know the answer to that question. It don't think it makes any difference anyway, as long as you use one of the approved ones. The recent updates of DGMPGDec haven't had much, if anything, to do with decoding DVD MPEG-2 content. As long as you're using DGDecode.dll v.1.1.0 you should be OK. If you have trouble getting everything set up properly, just uninstall, and then install again using the Rockas Installer package.
