    Is there any software that will analyze a captured mgeg for open or closed GOPs? And is it possible to reencode the mpeg to close them, if open, or would a recapture be necessary? My capture software doesnt allow for this. I am having a problem with chapter setting with open gops.

    i believe you can only re-encode to close them ...

    Is there an mpeg to mpeg encoder I can use for the captured mpeg to close them. I capture with the Hauppauge 250/wintv2000. Also, is there any utility that will scan the mpeg and give info on the GOPs?

    bitrate viewer ... as i stated before .. will give you the info .. you might have to buy it to get that function

    to re-encode you will lose quality you do realize ?

    you can use any mpeg encoder in the tools section to do this though
