Just seeing If anyone can tell me how, if possible, to get my recordings off my dvr box into my comp....the only thing i could come up with was firewire..let me Know of any successfull transfers....thanks

Connect the S-Video or composite cables to your capture card, then press play on the remote.
The Firewire output may or may not be active. If you have an HDTV DVR, you can call the cable TV tech, and see if they will activate the port or not. It is software controlled from the firmware file that Time Warner pushes to it. It is up to the specific market area, if that feature is turned on or off. Tell them you have a D-VHS recorder and need to transfer some shows to tape, so you can free up some space on the DVR.
