hi everyone.
well up till now ive been transferring my dv tapes to my pc in type2 avi using this great little program called DVIO 1.32. dam easy to use, no preview screen but doesnt matter as i can previw in my lcd screen on my panasonic nv-gs70.
im about ready to do analog vhs transfer to my pc using a canopus ADVC 110, and because i wont have a previw screen to see my capture footage, thought of trying out WinDV first with my dv tapes.
great easy to use program just like DVIO, but why does it output my dv file into dozens of short avi clips instead of one continuous AVI file like DVIO does. i transferred a 20 min video and i had about 30 or more short clips, which i would have to encode using my tmpgenc xpress into one dvd mpeg2 file.
is this normal or am i not setting it up correct.
i captured in type2 vids-auds, if i use the type1 setting i get a video file with another video file thant blank, just a black screen with no playback.
is there somewhere that i can get some good info on how to set it up. im not going to use it if it leavs me with all these seperate clips.
i tried out VirtualDub 1.6.9 and as far as im concerned, its not as user friendly as most in here seem to say it is, for me it just wont run properly, and crashes out all the time, and i cant seem to get the settings correct.
im happy to cont using DVIO 1.32 to capture from my dv camera because it has an lcd screen to view from, but if it had a preview screen for capturing analog from a vcr as well, it would be perfect.
does anyone know of another small free stand alone, easy to use capture program like WinDV or DVIO.
thanks and catch u all later.....GLEN

HI EVERYONE.
well thankyou for your quick help.
that guide worked a treat, now im a very happy chappy and it went great. i can stop using DVIO now, although its been a grat little tool with my dv camcorder.
now i feel like im at home as that guide also used tmpgenc encoder and tmpgenc dvd author for instructional purposes and i too use all TMPGEnc products as well, as well as DVD-Lab pro.
now i can add WinDV to my list, and can now capture vhs to pc with WinDV as well so i can see what im doing.
a footnote,: does anyone else seem to have issues with VirtualDub like i do, it surely cant be just me, im sure i have seen some posts in here from some who have also had issues with it, but i just dont see it as being as good as its reputation makes it out to be, just my thoughts thats all.
thanks again guys, catch up soon....GLEN
