DVDFab Question

Hey everyone, yesterday I downloaded DVDFab Platinum and I was in a rush to copy a movie so I used DVDFab Express. I copied the movie successfully with no problems at all. My question is very simple, what size should I set the blank DVD to in the options window? The default size is 4200 MB but since a blank DVD-R is 4.7 GB should I set the size to 4700 MB? Due to the fact that computers caluculate a megabyte as 1024 bytes should I set the size to 4370 MB? Its a very simple question and I wasn't too sure what size to use. Any help would be great. i read somewhere the true capacity is 4460/4470 megs.
i always set the size to 4400 megs as i read its good pratice not to use the full capacity of the disc to leave a few megs free

As has been stated here many times and is in the DVD 'What is' to the left the capacity of a DVD is 4.37GB. Even burning right up to that amount can cause problems with some DVD brands. It's safer to go a little below that. I would use DVDFab's recommendations or at least stay below the 4.37GB if you want to avoid problems at the end of the disc.

True size of a dvd is 4.37GB, not 4.7GB

maufacturers use 1000 KB to imply 1024KB, therefore:

1000 x 1000 = 1024 X 1024

1000000 = 1048576

Hence, 4.7 GB = 1.048576 GB for the equivalent

and 4.7GB/1.048576GB = 4.482269287GB or 4482.269 MB

Therefore, use 4482 MB or under.

I will most likely set the size to 4400 MB since that is one of the default options for the DVD size. I will tell you what happens next time I copy a movie. Thanks for the help!

That never happened to me, I just figured that if the movie size is increased the bit rate would increase. None the less, the original and the copy play the same quality and I have no problems whatsoever, I just thought if I could increase the quality I mind as well.
