    Hi,

    http://www.clickondetroit.com/technology/4736801/detail.html

I don't have tivo but I do have a capture card. This sounds like a really bad idea. I mean fastforwarding would automatically pop up an ad???? Sounds horrible. Hopefully they'll be some work around for you TIVO users. Ugh.

Heh, which im glad I dont have/nor will ever own a TIVO.....I use my PC to capture via passthrough from my DV deck and it feels good to edit out commercials while I capture. I don't like companies trying to waste my time forcing us to watch ads. I want to watch a program, not advertising.

You do realize that commercials is why there's a program, right?

  4. Yet another way for companies to force advertising down our throats. Isn't that THE reason WHY we fast-foward? to get to the program and skip the ads which we don't care about?. What's the point of having a pop up ad if we fast-forward? defeats the purpose of the function.

No it's supposed to be some kind of graphic overlay that they would put on through the software on the TIVO. Not hardcoded.

Not necessarily, here in the UK we get the BBC and no smegging adverts. We do pay a yearly fee of around £100 though. Bargain if you ask me

    thats a total misunderstanding.
in the uk,we pay the tv license for any equipment thats capable of recieving an incoming signal, gone are the years it was for the bbc,now its for it all, just to have the right to own a tv,video, whatever.and i believe the screen size is anything over 4".
the bbc only get a percentage of the license fee,the rest goes to the deputy prime minister john prescott's "keep me in meat pies, and jaguar cars" fund.
