  1. can anyone tell me a way of converting so you dont loose quality i hate it when you down load a xvid and watch it on your pc then when you convert it to dvd to watch on your dvd player the quality just isnt the same can this be corrected?

    Buy a xvid/divx dvd player or a htpc.

    You will always lose some quality when converting high compressed formats like xvid to dvd, they are not meant to be converted again. But try use highest possible bitrate and try different tools. Click on tools in the menu here to the left and select Video Encoders (DVD).

    Don't convert it. Buy a newer player that supports the native files you want to display. Quite a few budget players support xVid.

    If you want best quality keep it in its native format. If a DVD is the desired result, encode as MPeg2. If quality is your goal, you want to avoid xVid downloads.
