hello
one thing i've noticed is that everytime i burn a vcd from xvid w/ any kind of audio(ac3 or mp3), whenever i play it the voice/speech volume is always lower than say sound effects and music. its pretty inconvenient, turning the volume up when characters are talking and then being shocked when some sound effects come up, etc.
i know there are ways to raise the volume, but is there a way to raise only the voice volume? is there such a thing? sorry, i'm pretty new to audio stuff.
any help would be appreciated thanks!

insufficient info. but if u mean in general, well there r two things:
1- make sure ur audio card settings are ok (i.e. : both recording and play back sliders are adjusted)
2- when u edit on timeline, always open ur audio mixer monitor..and check level of every audio track.
do u hear all tracks well and at same level but when u export the problem arises?...give more info.

IF is it multi-channel, and IF the vocals are assigned wholy to the centre channel (two very big ifs) then you can demux, adjust the centre channel, then re-encode.
If, as is more likely, it is stereo or the vocals are mixed across the channels, there is little you can do. You can't easily just alter the vocals, unless you can isolate the frequencies associated with just them.
I must admit, having done quite a few of these myself, I have never come across this problem.Read my blog here.
