Hi,
I have a video which exhibits a lot of shaking. I have Premiere 6.5 and Virtual Dub.
Anyone got any ideas what I can do to deal with the problem?

You can download DeShaker for Virtualdub. It does a fine job of removing the shakes. For Premiere, I think that you can use Steadymove Pro, but that cost's money. DeShaker is free!

I've used the deshaker filter too and it works

Read the instructions very carefully as it is difficult to setup. -

I have used deShaker on some old, sometimes very shaky, 8mm film my father took in the 1950s whicvh I had digitised, and I'm very happy with the much steadier results.
I'll now have to see if the settings from John Meyer's guide provide even better results.

There are some new Adobe Premiere Pro filters that have been discussed at length over at WrigleyVideo.com
SteadyHand is another one, a standalone application that does somewhat decent. You may need to break the movie down into scenes, as it'll go all wonky on you if you have panning.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I tried deshaker on my 3rd attempt at my wedding video and it did smooth things out but I got some freaktacular things going on along the edges where it had to compensate...i get like these wavy dotted black lines...i'm guessing I may need to tell it to go further back or further forward with the edge compensation to properly fill in those gaps...it doesn't help that the guy that did my video was all over the place, but any time it makes a correction I get those dotted black lines...i guess i'll just take a tiny clip and try it out...I did the whole wedding (approx. 30 minutes) and on my P4 3.0ghz it took about 10 hours!
