  1. Can someone help me identify an appropriate software application to help reduce camera shake on videos that I took of my niece’s wedding (so a post-production reduction as it were).
I want a reliable piece of software that is easy to install and use but inexpensive (if there is a good freeware piece of software that would be perfect).
I am fairly new to this forum (and making video’s) as this is only my second post, so please be gentle with me if the answer is obvious. I am using DVD creation software: ‘DVDFlick’ (not sure, if this is relevant) to create my DVDs

After Effects has a pretty good one built in, but it ain't cheap. DeShaker can do a reasonable job, especially given the price. However it also depends on how bad the movement is, if your footage is interlaced or progressive, and other factors. If the movement is too extreme it may not be salvageable in a way that makes it useful. Can you post a sample ?

Prodad Mercalli V2. This really works but, it will cost you about $119, stand alone version. It makes shaky video tripod straight.! If you do lots of video editing, this is a must. You can download a trial version to see how good and easily it works. It is also included as a plugin in VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate.

Vegas Pro has stabilization built in, and a free 30 day trial. Don't know about the "Studio" line.

Like mentioned above, it all depends how bad it is. If you can manually correct the worst parts, you'll get a better result. In Vegas, the pan/crop tool can do this with keyframes, and set all keyframes to "smooth".

  6. Vegas Movie Studio will stabalize as well. For the record I think all deshake methods "zoom" in. The image has to be cropped because the image is moved in opposition to the unwanted motion to create a "stable" image. In order to move the image around, the image has to move outside the boarder of the original video frame. Programs that don't crop are likely doing some kind of pixel stretching at the boarders.

    Hi,

Where do you see it anywhere online for even close to $119?

This seems to be a great product and essential as I'm an editor and cameraman.

    Thanks.
