    i just downloaded the Flac codec, and i wish to encode
    some wav files i made, which format and software do
    i use to rip the files.

    Look at the flac website. http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html Should be some info there.

    Look under 'GUI encoding/decoding front-ends:' for programs that can use the codec.
