I have DVDSanta as I have many clips and stuff in PAL and need NTSC.
I find the software works great for converting these files to a DVD with ease.
I have one question though that I couldnt find on the site for DVDSanta.
I have a video that is AVI but PAL and is widescreen.
Now having it convert to NTSC DVD isnt the problem, but I am wondering about the aspect ratio when it converts.
My options for AVI ---> DVD are simple:
I load the PAL AVI then select NTSC, then ( video resolution ) high ( 720x480 ) but what about aspect ratio? I can choose FULL SCREEN or WIDESCREEN
Would I want to choose WIDESCREEN as that is what it is? Would selecting FULL SCREEN mess the picture up?
I want the result to still be widescreen.Im not sure what ratio it is since it is AVI and not sure how to check it.But it's very thin.

You can check aspect ratios with a program called G-Spot. Also, PAL/NTSC has nothing to do with aspect ratios and everything to do with framerates, AFAIK. Knowing nothing whatsoever about DVDSanta I'd say if your source is widescreen, and you want to keep it widescreen, uh... I'd select the widescreen option, heh

Ok, got that G-spot app and it seems the aspect ratio is 2.40:1
I know PAL/NTSC has nothing to do with AR, I was just showing the full detail.
What I didnt want to happen was going from a 2.40:1 AVI PAL to an NTSC DVD with a messed up AR in the end.
So knowing what to select ( either full screen or widescreen ) was what I needed to know.If choosing full, I would imaging it would 'bunch' the image up or if picking wide, it would add black bars or not.
Conversion is fast on my PC so if one doesnt look right, not like I cant try the other way
Thanks for the tip on finding AR with g-spot.
