    I have some problems using TMPGEnc to convert my Xvid encoded movies... the process sometimes fail halfway. ( the encoding process just freeze at a certain point ). It doesn't always work.

    any other good software convertor from xvid to mpg?

    Try VSO DivxToDVD. It's freeware and works well for me for XVID to DVD conversions.
