    I am newbie. I am looking for a guide to convert DVD to Dvix or xvid.

    If you happen to run into troubles after reading the guide, take a look in the forum section linked last, or, make a new thread detailing the issues/questions you have.

    For something easy to use, take a look at autoGK, and staxrip.
    Linux _is_ user-friendly. It is not ignorant-friendly and idiot-friendly.

    I second AutoGK. There are several guides available, but you don't really need them. It's fairly simple.

    I follow the guide by using virtualDubmod to convert vob file to dvix,
    I chose 1080HD profile, but when I play back dvix file there is no picture, any Help ?

    What sort of VOB ? If it is from a DVD, why would you want to convert it to 1080 ?
