    Newbee here.
What I got now is a .smi subtitle file and .wmv video file.
All I need to do is adding subtitle file into video file and burn to VCD with accurate subtitle display (I mean Vietnamese subtitle).

I've read carefully messages between caubee and celtic_druid. But I didn't get it clearly.

Can you do me a favor by showing step by step guide to solve the above problem?

    Thanks a lot!
    Regards.[/b]

can you convert the wmv in tmpgenc?
then just install ffdshow(enable sub in the config) or vobsub, be sure to name the video and sub with same name but just with different extensions.

if you can't convert the wmv in tmpgenc try use winavi video converter and be sure to have ffdshow and vobsub installed also.

I have converted that wmv file to mpeg.
All I want now is to add sub file to video file by VirtualDub.
But my sub is .smi and the VirtualDub just supports .ssa.
Then, I used VobSub to convert .smi to .ssa and added to video file.
But the sub didn't display correctly (Vietnamese Subtitle).

Give me some clear guides (step by step) , cos I'm newbee.

    Thanks a lot!

I've used the textsub filter (2.53) of Gabest in Virtual frame to TMPGEnc.
    But it didn't help.
    Sub doesn't display correctly.
    Is there any idea ?

    Thanks

VCD requires hardsubs, so you need to add them before converting, not afterwards.

You could try directshowsource() in avisynth for the WMV file and then textsub() for the subs.

I used textsub (unicode release) to add a .smi Vietnamese sub to VCD by Virtualdub then frameserve to TMPGEnc, but the sub still didn't display correctly. (But when I play it with Windows Media Player, the sub is fine).

    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks a lot!
