I was surprised that I was able to copy/extract the contents of a commerical concert DL disc onto my Harddrive with all of those BUP / IFO / VOB stuff, coming a total of 28 files and 7.9 GB in total volume. PowerDVD was able to play those VOBs well.
Now for testing purpose, with me not having a DL burner, I am interested in finding out/learning on how to span the main concert files into two sequential SL DVD discs with the same original quality.
For the main concert, I currently have 7 VOB files:
VTS_02_0 ( 8 kb)
VTS_02_1 to _5 (each 1.028 gb)
VTS_02_06 (640 mb)
and one each the below
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO
1 a) What each of those VTS_02_0 .VOB .BUP .IFO does?
1 b) To span the discs/ play them independently as I plan to (or have to) , do I need to copy those onto each disc?
2) How to do all of this with which tools?

Hi
The VTS files are Video Title Sets and these contain the video itself.
The IFO files are information files which tell the DVD player how to play the DVD.
The BUP file is a Backup file of the IFO file.
To learn more take a look here,
https://www.videohelp.com/dvd
Now to split the DVD to 2 DVD/R you have several chioices.
I would take a look at the guide section on the top left of this page, look under the 'HOW TO' heading then select the 'DVD BACKUP' guides, then just take a look through the guides listed and experiment with some of those that you think may suit your needs.
For a good start to how to split the DVD take a look here,
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/48/59/.
I would recommend starting with the following software for your purposes as they will do what you want perfectly,
DVDdecrypter and DVDshrink.
If you are very new to this I would suggest getting some ReWritable DVD's to practice with first before you commit your work to recordable media, at least then if your project doesn't work you can erase it and try again.
