Anyone have any experience with one? Good? Bad? Supposedly has the same Conexant MPEG hardware encoder chip that the Hauppauge PVR-150 has. I'm just curious because Fry's here in the DFW area has them on sale for $49.99 after rebate ($79.99 + $30 rebate).

  2. Superb video quality, if you can get it working with YOUR PVR software.
GB-PVR supports it, as do a few others.
It's a headache to get installed, and beware the remote. Some models (not sure about the Diamond) such as the Sapphire have a VERY crappy remote. The MSI is much nicer.

reboot, thanks for the reply -- but I think I missed the sale at this point. Fry's Friday sales only last until the following Tuesday. Also, I bought a Datavideo TBC-3000 on ebay this weekend, so there went any money I would have thrown at the Diamond card anyway

The 550 is the new ATI chip, not the conexant.

Yes, the Theater 550 is the new ATI chip. However, the chip in this card is NOT the ATI chip, although the name of the card almost seems to imply that it is. Great marketing on Diamond's part, eh?

Diamond XtremeTV PVR 550 come with Conexant 23416 in fact it use very same set of chip that as WinTV-PVR-150/150MCE/150MCE I.p. and 500MCE
Sorry it had nothing to do marketing on Diamond's part.

  7. Then I was mistaken. If it's the Comexant 23416, it's an excellent card. If it's the Theatre 550 pro ATI chip, then you'll have headaches
