I'm trying to convert a 24 minute avi video file to mpeg 2. I'm using tmpgenc and everything seems to be going fine. But after its finished the video seems to be going slightly fast. It's 19 minutes when it should be 24. I tried reducing the framerate to make it go slower but thats not working. Is there any way to slow down the speed of my mpeg 2 file? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  2. Use GSpot to determine what the framerate is of your source AVI first. From there, make sure that you set TMPGEnc to encode using the same framerate. Going from 25 fps to 29.97 fps, for example, will give you sped up video and shorter play time as you desribed, but more info is needed.

    Well, here's what happened.
I had an MKV file. I ran that through mkvtoolnix to get audio and video files. The video file I had became an avi, when I used gspot, it told me that the avi was 29.97 fps, and that it was 19 minutes long. But the original MKV file was 24 minutes long. So I don't why the avi is like that. Right now im running the original mkv file through avisynth and converting the avs file in tmpgenc. Hopefully I'll get better results.

Also, I tried reducing the framerate from 29 to 23, but it was still only 19 minutes long. I'm hoping this avisynth thing will help me.

Whoa! ......... TMPGEnc can convert mkv files directly? I feel really stupid. I thought I had to convert the video file to some recognizable format. Ah. Well this makes things much easier. I hope it works this time. Thanks for you help kburton.
