  1. I was editing a pal mpeg2 (352 x 288) video with Tmpgenc editor. Everything seemed to go fine, audio synchs fine.

At the moment i'm teaching myself using scenarist, though i am very capable with Dvdlab Pro. Whilst, the mpeg2 loaded fine into dlp, and basically compiled fine without any problems, when i imported into Scenarist (v3), it spitted the file out saying

"Error : Number of fields (36) in GOP(# 3790) or between sequence_header_code should be equal or smaller than 30."

What software, would easily allow me to locate GOP's by searching by GOP number? Its not a matter of simply multiplying 3790 by 15 to find the rough frame number, because some of the gops won't be automatically be 15 frames long, on the contrary, some are 13.

Is there software to search on GOP# easily? So i can begin to repair the gop structure for this file.

    I wish I had $20,000 just to learn a new toy . . . . Ah well.

Mpg2Cut2 says it is a GOP level mpeg cutting tool, so it might be worth a look. Otherwise look at something like cuttermaran

  3. I'm sure if i had have $20,000 laying around i wouldn't bother buying scenarist. A friend of mine (a very wealthy friend i may add) was a scenarist guru, and he recently developed motor neuron syndrome. Of his friends in the business, he couldn't be bothered helping them out, and as he knew that i was getting really into this dvd stuff, he gave me his workstation with the scenarist installation on it. It was a wonderful gift, but he did communicate to me that it wasn't the most pleasant gift - he said you gonna have to learn a lot!!

But anyway, in regards to the initial error... i went back into tmpgenc editor, and played around with it and it just moves an error somewhere else, so i'll try out cuttermaran.
