I ran into a bug in the real time mpeg 2 capture common to VS5, DVD MovieFactory and MSP Director's Cut. I am using the ATI AIW 128 Pro and capturing NTSC DVD (720 x 480) using the Ulead mpeg VFW capture plug-in. The default audio setting is stereo 384 Kbps, 48KHZ sample rate. In the mpeg 2 file the audio ends up mono, 192 Kbps, 48KHz not stereo 384... By setting up the same parameters in User Defined Profile except the audio I find no matter what stereo audio setting I choose it ends up mono. If I reduce the resolution to 352 x 240 and keep all other settings the same the audio is stereo. I get the same results with VS5, DVD MovieFactory, and MSP Director's Cut 6.5. I am running Win 98 SE and a 1GHz Athlon processor. I suppose it could be something I am doing. Anyone else run into the same problem?

Lamont - sorry I can't help ou but you are the expert with these programs and I have a question. Is it possible to capture at a 480x480 resolution in VS 5 with an AIW pro 128 and 98se? I have a full version of VS 5 that came in the box but I can't seem to get it to capture at 480x480. Is it possible?

Next, None of the Ulead capture programs I have used, including VS5, support custom capture resolution settings. You can make an XSVCD capture using your own mpeg capture settings and DVD resolution (720 x 480). Not Much help. AVI VFW files I capture with AVI_IO which does support custom capture resolutions and seamless capture. Ulead provides a seamless dv capture to get around the fat 32 4G files size limit but seamed to forget that the same file size limit applied to the mpeg file. If you are creating a DVD compliant mpeg 2 you are limited to 4G not the ~4.3G the DVD can hold.
