  2. I have the same problem as you. I convert my ogm/mkv to mpeg2 using tmpgenc and author them using dvd-lab pro and my dvds also freeze during playback on one of my dvd players. I have a feeling the problem is dvd-lab pro because when I used dvd architect 2 the dvd played just fine. I reported this problem but they haven't came out with a fix.

Not related to your problem, but what bitrate used for video in the AVI is completely irrelevant when choosing mpeg2/DVD bitrate. What matters is what quality you want, and how much space (the DVD) you've got.
The DVD specs doesn't define any lower bitrate limit, and 3300 kbps is fine, at least for 1/2 D1 resolution.
I would bet on media compatibility issue here. Try other manufacture of DVD, try +r instead of -r (or vice versa).

I also think something like that so I made a test.
What I did was that I autored a DVD using DVD-LAB PRO and burned and it freezes but then I autored the same dvd files with dvdcomposer and
then burned but this one dosen't freeze. So I dont know if is the bitrate. But I dont really know if is only
with anime episodes that have multiple audio streams because when I author with dvd-lab pro other movies thet aren't japanese anime they work just fine so don't really know the problem
