  1. Hi everyone. I just bought a Handycam DCR-DVD92. I am trying to edit video in movie maker, or any other program so I can make a dvd. There is no firewire to capture from, so I inserted the disc and ripped the data to my harddrive. Thing is, none of the files are recognized by editing software. Is there anyway to change the file names (they are .vob if I am not mistaken) and inexpensively without losing quality so I can edit?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!

Have you tried DVD Shrink. It will accept VOB files and you can do simple edits. And it's free.

You could simply try changing the extension to .mpg If that doesn't work you can rip them with DVD Decrypter, it will convert them to .mpg

BTW if you want to author to DVD you can't use Movie Maker.
