I was wondering if anyone has experience with this drive and the media. I have a sony dvp-s300 standalone player. I was wondering if anyone has this player that had burned dvds with this drive and had positive results with the media. Also I would like to have this drive setup with and extrnal enclosure possibly fiirewire. I was wondering if this is advisable. Thanx All.

I have a Memorex Memorex 16x16 DVD16+/-DL4RWnD2 Internal and when reading of others flashing the firmware (note: I haven't done this), they say the firmware says NEc-3520a. I addition this page states the chipset and everything else is NEC. I have burned 100+ DVD's and never had a did not play in any standalones. I am probably approaching 30 or so different units and no probs. Thats why i dont flash it, it ain't broke so I wont mess w/ it. I love this drive!

It didn't say that in the description!

It is pretty much standard that drives bundled with software include the OEM or LE versions of the software.
For instance, newegg sells the NEC 3520a for less than $50 and they sell Nero Burning ROM for about $85. You don't REALLY think that the bundled version of Nero is going to be the same full version that sells for that much more than the price of the drive?

No, I didn't expect a full version but I didn't expect to have to buy a plug-in to be able to burn my pictures to DVD with transitions, music & menus.

i bought the nec 3250a and it has worked great so far. Anything i have burned has worked on my Xbox and on my standalone dvd player in my bedroom. Not sure of the type of the dvd player.
