What i want to know is how to determine if a movie can beable to view in 4:3 fullscreen instead of 16:9 with out it looking swashed.
Is there a program that can tell me which aspect would suit my films?

Also is there a program that coverts dvd compliant mpegs to vobs,i know dvdlab does , any other?

You should be able to tell simply by looking at it.

Any authoring app should be able to, although some may require that you demultiplex first.

What aspect ratio is the AVI ? (Divide the width by the height). If you get less than 1.78 then you need to go 4:3, and add black bars. If it more than or equal to 1.78 then you can go 16:9. You may still have to add black bars, and you will have to resize more carefully to get it right.

    Hi, ron12347

If you open your .avi in VirtualDubMod, and go to File>File Information, then you can get an exact aspect ratio in the form of w x h.

    Thanks.
