I just downloaded the ffmpegx for mac. I'm running OS 10.3.9 and am trying to convert a fair number of .avi files to DVD for play on a stand-alone player. All these files play just fine on the computer. I can create a Video-TS file which burns just fine in Toast 6.1, but I'm unaware of how to put multiple Video-TS files on on disc. After reading through the forums, I understand that DVD2DVD would be able to fix that but there are several points I really don't understand yet and was hoping for some clarification before I shell out the money for the program
1. When I create the Video_TS files I also get 3 other files, an m2v, AC3 and an mpeg (with no audio) why is this?
2. Is it possible to do a direct .avi to mpeg with ac3 file conversion so that I can burn these directly in toast? Toast does not encode these, so the burn time is not hours.
3. What exactly is muxing?
4. What I have been using is the dvd2mpeg enc, would the mpeg-ts function be the better choice?

1. Sounds like temporary files.
2. ffnoegx should be able to output an mpeg with AC3 audio.
3. Putting audio, video, etc. streams into a container. M2V+AC3-->VOB, MP3+XvID-->AVI, AAC+AVC-->MOV, etc.
ts = transport stream. Not what you want.
Use an authoring app to author your m2v and AC3 files, that way you can add multiple title sets.
