Nero CD Speed Disk Quality

I am using Nero 6.6.0.12 with Maxell 8X -R DVD'S. With a crapy samsung burner. I am trying to figure out why I am not able to run the Disk Quality test in nero cd speed. The start button is grayed out so I cant click on it. What do I need to be able to run Disk Quality? Or is there any other tool to download to run disk quality with a samsung?

First, be sure that your Samsung model supports quality scanning.....then, be sure the version of CDSpeed can support the drive. The latest version of CDSpeed is 4.00, and can be downloaded at www.cdspeed2000.com. I'm not sure, but the latest Nero is 6.6.0.14, and it may contain an updated CDSpeed.

I usually replace the exe file in my Nero tools directory when I download from cdspeed2000.com.

Thanks Hawseman. That fixed the problem. Now my next question is what is the max errors for PI/errors, PI/Fairlure, and Quality Score?

I don't have a Samsung burner....but I think that it's 1ECC....which means you shouldn't have a PIF spike above 4.

You can verify that by going into the "Options" of CDSpeed, select "Disk Quality" on left, and clicking the box near "Use background to show error limits" under Colors.

That will show your PIF zones....staying in the lowest zone is best.

PIE's should be as low as possible, CDSpeed doesn't adjust your media score based on PIE's.....I don't agree with that, as PIE's above 250 could give you trouble in older players....been there.

Lower is always better.
