Hello to anyone who views this!

I'm thinking about buying the original japanese tv series of Fist of the North Star on DVD (episodes 1-152) as it is now available, and I wanted to know if anyone has seen any episodes or dvds of the original tv series and would recommend this.

I've seen the movie and read some of the graphic novels and I wanted to know if this dvd set would be worth the purchase.

    Cheers

I hated the video game. Which came first? Video games based off toons often suck. And toons based off games often suck.

Fortunately the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games did not follow that mold. Those were some of the best games for the NES and SNES.

The tv series came out in 1985 originally and I'm not sure if it was based on the graphic novels or vice versa. I haven't played the game of this before.

  5. I'm a big fan of Fist of the North Star. Buy the USa release one's they are dubbed and subtitled. The ones with 152 episodes are bootlegs I think from HK.

I think you might be right about the bootleg thing because the optional subtitles are english and chinese and the dialogue is all japanese. The only problem with the US version is that it only goes up to episode 32, I think. Do you know if there's any plans to release any more episodes?

If the US versions are better anyway I'll get those ones.

Doubtful. Not a popular series here.

I've watched some bootleg HK anime before. The translation is usually pretty good, and they're a heck of a lot cheaper than the american box sets.

The tv show was based off the manga/graphic novels. That's usually the case, with a popular japanese comic. The books sell well, so some company buys some liscensing and milk the hell out of it with everything from a tv show to lunchboxes.

I'd say it's worth it, if you're a fan. The ending was great. Kind of tragic, but great.

Have you read all of the graphic novels for this or have you seen all of the tv episodes?

I liked the movie first time seeing it got me hooked I even got the PSX Japaneese version of the game and I liked the story even though I could not understand nothing.. I myself am willing to buy the whole series set but for right now I think its too much money.. Also if your a big fan the US released The New First of the North Star. So far they have relased 3 DVDs.

I've read some of the graphic novels and seen some of the tv series. A friend of mine had the last few episodes on tape, when we were kids.
