    hey
    i lately got a new computer and it came with a new capture card its a Leaktek winfast TV card, so i connected to my vcr and started to record my video tapes with winfast PVR but what is wrong is i want to record multiple episodes into 1 dvd disc, i have seen other people record 8 episode into 1 dvd disc, a episode is 45mins n with
    vcd quality = 480mb
    scvd quality = 890mb
    dvd quality = 2.4gbs
    mpeg = 2gb
    mpeg2 = 2gb
    these are all approx size but its around these sizes
    so i guess the most appropiate is the vcd quality but after i recorded the vhs to my computer as vcd quality, the quality of the video is quite poor compare to what i have seen with other peoples dvd disc with 8 episodes.
    so i have tried recording the vhs as mpeg,mpeg2,svcd and dvd the quality is good but the size is too big but i have left the sizes to the side. so i wanted to burn them onto a dvd disc using nero,ulead studio 8 and ulead dvd moviefactory 3, but when burning it all 3 prorgams said "cannot read file" and it would stop burning. so the only files which works is vcd but the quality is quite poor and i dont want to burn it as there is no point.
    i compared the video quality with a downloaded video quality there was major difference but when i checked the video properties its the same as my vcd quality files. i really dont understand how two video properties is the same but the quality is sooo difference
    so i was wondering if anyone can help and give me some clues on how i can record serval episode into a dvd disc and the quality of the video is normal?
    thanks

    8 x 45 is 6 hours. You can't put 6 hours on a single-sided, single-layer disk and expect to get better than VCD (sub VHS) quality. 6 hours with 192kbp AC3 gives you a bitrate slightly higher than VCD (1497 / 1150). You *might* get away with a bitrate this low at half-D1.

    So either your friends don't put 8 episodes on a disk, you were mistaken about the quality, or they use dual layer disks at half-D1, which would up the quality.

  3. The "clues", COMPLETE descriptions with pictures, and MULTIPLE ways to achieve your goal are all posted in the guides to the left.

    There are too many things to explain to answer your question until you have done some research.

    Or can you tell me, in one sentence, why Grandma's apple pie tastes better than the store-bought kind?
