  1. I've made VCD slide shows before no problem. I'm using TMPGenc to convert my jpgs -> 720x480 MPEG1 files. I then then used Nero to burn all the MPGs to VCD. I can play the VCD (each dat file) fine on my PC.

However, when I put the disc in my standalone DVD player, it reads it as VCD and can read the TOC (sees all 21 tracks) but when I hit play there's no picture (stays on DVD root/title screen, doesn't even go black???). But every 5secs it does change to the new track!

Never seen this happen before. Any ideas? Also tried 704x480 and MPEG2, but same problem.

  2. why not just use Nero to make the slide show? Just drop JPEG files in when making a VCD ...works fine....unless you want audio or transitions like I do!!! I would love to find an all in one Slideshow program that has music....trasitions...and can be saved as an MPEG in order to burn to vcd....any Ideas????

  3. Actually there's a program that can do that: Ulead DVD Picture show. The demo is/was nice but I don't want to spend the money

Anyway, I don't want to use Nero because I want everything at 720x480. This won't concern me save that I've gotten it to work in the past.

  4. Nero is problematic for other reasons as well...

However, is there any particular reason for you to want them at 720x480 (the standard being 704x480 of course)?

    Regards.

  5. Actually I can live with 704x480, in fact that's the first resolution I tried. And again, everything plays fine on the PC, it's just my standalone that's acting up Don't know why so I'm going to just keep playing with it until I get something to work (have made slide shows in the past).
