  1. I tried turning hardware acceleration off in wmp but it just runs so slow and freezes. I can't open this format in virtualdub or any dvd player program with capture capability (unless you know one that isnt powerdvd or windvd. And I've tried both snapit and hypersnap, neither of those programs seem to do anything (yes I checked "enable special capture, directx"). No matter what I do I end up with either the movie playing in my paint program or black screen even with snapit and hypersnap dx 5.

I think MPC has a capture feature.

For capturing with snapit or any other utility, refer to this guide:

  5. i have had the same problem for some of my projects that i have had to do ... i found that alot of programs that clame that they capture from media players ... but i have found that you can press the printscreen button while using Quicktime Player ... this has been the only software program that i have found will allow you to take a screenshot or use a capure tool to take the image you want from the media player...

In the end i may be wrong about some capture tools, as i have not used EVERY caputre tool out there .. so if you find something that works for you please reply back cause i would like to know what really works !!!

Try having a look at Hypersnap DX, it will take snapshots of virtually anything including DirectX and Glide game snapshots, video snapshots, timed and instant snapshots, buttons, screenshots, user defined area snapshots, basically if its on the screen it will take the snapshot of whatever it is you're looking at

I use it for creating my guides and other stuff if I'm playing with video conversions

  7. I found out Hypersnap and snagit dont work with players that use directshow rather than directx.

When using Windows Media Player, hitting Ctrl-I allows you to capture the screen, which can then be saved as an image file.
