  1. I am playing an avi in a window and freeze it.

I take a full desktop screenshot, but the avi window is saved as black.

How do I take the shot so that the avi window is visible too?

It's because of video overlay/hardware acceleration. Some screen capture tools allows this directly or just use mpchc, open video, file->save image. Paste the screenshot into your full desktop screenshot.

edit: You could also start two video players with the same video and one should't use video overlay so it should be possible to take a normal screenshot.

Will it exactly fit in the Black area? Because I want to preserve the player's window frame.

That is not an option, because I want to preserve this particular player's window frame which I want to relay to the party I am taking the screenshot for.

This might be what I need.
    Can you suggest any?

    Thanks

You can paste and resize the captured image so it fit exactly in the black window area. Use for example the free paint.net.

Does MPHC alter the color quality, at all?
Sometimes screen caps do that, and it's not accurate.

  7. To tell you the truth, I had Classic player in my system, I do not know if it is the same as Baldrick's link.
Perfect quality was not what I was looking for... all I wanted to do is fill the exact black box I had before with a decent frame capture and it served my purpose.

If it is the quality of the frame itself you are interested, there are other ways to get a quality one, but you would not get the GUI frame that I wanted.
